About Play Therapy

Play is a vital contribution in providing counseling services with children. It is never "just playing." Children are able to communicate and explore life events through play as toys are used like words by children and play is their language. Children often lack the necessary cognitive and verbal abilities to articulate their painful emotional experiences. Using play, it creates a relationship of trust built between child and the play therapist to continue to work towards goals. Children are able to communicate and work through challenges, while working in a therapeutic safe place for them to express their thoughts and feelings.

At Play by Play Counseling, we have a firm understanding of child development and utilizing play-based interventions to treat childhood mental health issues.
